If you believe that you have to always quarantine fish, then I'd say 'yes' to the question.
Diseases and parasites, etc., can often survive for a long while in an environment and if you place a diseased/parasitised fish into your tank, then you've efffectively added that disease/parasite to the tank and any future fish could catch it.
Thyere's also an argument to suggest that whilst your fish appears fit and healthy, it may just happen to be resistant to the pathogens it is carrying, whereas other (future) fish might not be.

The main reason we quarantine fish is so that if they are infected with a disease, this can be spotted and treated before they are put into a tank with fish already there and infect those fish.
The first fish to go in a tank don't need to be quarantined as the main tank is their quarantine tank, but once there are fish in the main tank, any subsequent fish should be quarantined even if they are the same species.
If buying first fish at the same time but from different stores, one batch can go straight into the main tank as their quarantine tank, and the fish from the other store should go into a separate tank and not mixed until you are sure both sets are disease free.

its gonna be a one fish tank, i dont plan on having any other fish or plants, just that one which is why i was asking.

No. It’s that simple. If it’s the only fish in the tank, then there’s no way to get other fish sick. If it does develop a disease, then you can treat it in the main tank.

It depends on how much you value the bio filter in that tank. Say the fish do indeed have some sort of illness. You might have to treat the entire tank with a medication to rid it of the organism. Even if all the fish die the organism would likely still be present in the filter media and substrate. So you would have to get rid of it before restocking the tank with new fish. The medication you use to do so would likely kill off a lot of the good bacteria in your bio filter as well so you would then have to re-cycle or at least go through a mini cycle. A lot of people would probably just take that risk and add the fish straight in but you should just be aware that risk is there.
