Hey all just a quicky: I am treating for ich...can I still do my weekly water change? If so should I still do a 20% or do more or less than that?
Thanks,
Megan
treating ICK means doing several treatments. so water changes, and a carbon filter, all help.
this will take over one week. even if you up the temp. there is still no way to get it down to less than seven days (three treatments.)
just to explain. ICK has three stages. it is only suitable to treatments.when it is in one stage (free swimming).
this means you need to treat several times. (so you get all the bugs, as they progress through their life cycle.)
any med that could do it in one treatment is either. so toxic it would kill everything, or a con. most one time treatment i have seen, are the latter.
honest guy, if the treatment says its a one time deal. leave it on the self.
quite a few people use no meds, at all, just upping the temperature and dosing with salt.
it might be worth doing a Forum search for "ICK" "white spot". the subject has been covered many times.
