Hi, Just wondering what I can have to clean the algae from my tank? Currently I have 3x Convicts 2x Cichlids and 1x Syno Cat.
Thanks in advance, Pete

You can buy an algae scrubber from your local pet store. They should probably have one. You can also just use a sponge.

I was looking for some type of fish. I have a glass scrubber but I need something to keep the algae down as I work offshore and my Fiancée will only feed them

Ohhhh lol. Ok you can try using snails or cory cats. Those are my recomindations.

Snails would possibly get eaten/attacked by your Cichlids.
Cories are great for scavenging but won't eat algae, they wouldn't go too well with your current stocking either.
How big is the tank? What type of Cichlids do you have?

Oh yeah, check this out too- http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/425639/the_best_algae_eating_fish_for_a_freshwater.html?cat=53

And yeah how big is your tank because it depends on that.

Plecos are good, durable algae eaters. Especially with your Cichlids... They just love to knock over your decorations and dislodge plants. I have had plecos in every type of set up, and have never had a problem. I have even seen them in an outdoor pond!

hey i have Malawi Cichlids x2 and my tank is 100ltr cheers

chaos waiting to happen with those 5 cichlids in a 100L

but for algae eaters that could survive in there i can only think of bristlenose plec provided it has a few forms of cover/shelter

but i dont advise adding any more fish
