If a betta has spent a couple of months in a community tank would it be ok to then move it to its very own tank where it would be on its own?

Mine lives with quite a few other fish inc platies and glowlight tetras but I'm thinking of setting him up his very own tank but not sure if the sudden segregation would affect him after he has been with the others?

What do you guys think?

I think he'd love it!
They're solitary creatures anyway.
The day after I brought my new one home from a community tank in the LFS he built me the hugest bubble nest i've ever seen.

It's a shame now that he'll have to wait another couple of months until my fry are ready to go to the LFS, Then again I could be mean and let them loose in the main tank and see if any survive (sounds harsh I know) only prob with that is that they have white spot (found it last night) ruddy pest that it is!

Would he be all right in a tank with an undergravel filter? Thats whats in my nursery tank along with gravel (might ditch the gravel and go for sand or something) what would be best to have in his tank? I already have a heater, but the light needs fixing but thats not a big deal at the mo I'll just try and work on my dad to fix it a bit of sweet talking should do the trick!

I think he'd be fine with a move to his own tank. My Fiodore was in my 25 gallon community tank for about a month, and then I moved him to his own 2 gallon tank.

I had my 1st one in a community for awhile and he hid alot. When he got on his own his personality really came out and he started thinking he was really "All That". He built bubblenests and swam around like he owned the world.

Fiodore never built bubble nests when he was in the community tank, but I think that's also partially due to the current from the power filter.
