I have 1 girl betta in her tank.
Another one is being floated.
They're flaring at each other like CRAZY.
Should I go ahead and dump the other one in anyway???

I think the only way you can be sure how they're gonna react to one another is by letting them loose. They might just have to get that dominance issue out of the way.

I posted that four should be kept to spread out aggression.....

WAIT. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING HAVE A SEPERATE TANK/JAR READY RIGHT NEXT TO YOU, WITH WATER ALREADY AT PROPER TEMPERATURE, AND DECHLORINATED.
DUMP THE FISH IN AN WATCH THEM WITH A NET IN HAND....IF THERE IS ANY SERIOUS FIGHTING NET OUT ONE AND PUT IT IN THE TANK/JAR

A little nipping is normal but nothing serious....a little nipping and flaring could be just to make territories. Watch them carefully for a while and make sure it doesn't get out of hand!

I just removed the other female from my little girl's (Pea Princess's) tank because my little girl was flaring 24/7 and would not let it go. The other female was so docile and wouldn't even flare back. She just kept chasing her around the tank so I felt back and put her back into the 120 gallon. I think Pea Princess is better off by herself.

Hope your two girls get along fine.

Well, they had a tiff when I first put them in. They sorta wrapped themselves into a c shape and wiggled next to each other, and some flaring but no biting or anything, really....
They've been kinda doing their own thing, but when the one that's a tad bit bigger catches a glimpse of the smaller one, she chases her.

The smaller one's cheeks are mighty red.
What does that mean?
I have a little tub ready to go if I need to rescue her.
How long do I need to let them be before I decide??

I really don't recommend this. 2 females is not good. 4 is minimum to spread aggression. Get them they're own home to be happy, or get 2 more in a cycled tank like a ten gallon. Make sure there are hiding places. The thing they were doing....c shape and wiggling...if you type "betta fight" into google images that's the first thing that comes up. They were fighting.

Well, crapola.
I guess that means one more tank at my house then.
heh

Hmm - yeah after watching them I think the little one will live her whole life stressed out if I leave here in there.
It's such a shame, too, cuz that tank is GORGEOUS.
I'll post pics later, i have a little girl to go save right now.

Oh come on-- YOU KNOW YOU WANT THE TEN GALLON COMMUNITY

More tanks :p

What a pisser.
Now I really don't know what to do.
I have the poor scared little girly in her walmart cup on the entertainment center.
And the other little witch (lol) is still in the nice big warm planted tank.

IF...if i were to get a 10 gallon tank and put the 2 in it that I already have, along with 2 more, would that work, or will they always hate each other now??

In theory, the addition of more females should distribute the aggression more evenly. Unless the witch just has it out for that little girl.

teh best way to do this is keep the new girly floated for about and then add food to distract the alredy existing girly, while she pigging out add teh new girly. they will spar off a bit but after a while they will develope a pecking order, it is so fun to watch, but medicate ur tank because there will be a bit of fin damage. watcgh em and they should be fine

u dont ahve to seperate them they will be fine together, ur not giveing it enogh time, 24 hours they will be fine with each other.

I'm so upset right now.
My boyfriend is looking at me with the devil stare.
He's "daring" me to bring one more tank home.
I just may have to take him right up on that challenge. LOL

I was thinking I'd just go to one of the pet stores and pick up an empty 10 gallon and get a glass lid, and get 2 more girls, and then transfer the rocks & plants to the 10 gal.

BUT, then if these 2 still don't work together i'm sorta screwed.
I suppose I could always get a divider if I really had to.
hrmph

If you need a divider without spending a whole lot of money, check the craft aisle of WM. They have plastic crochet canvases, 40 cents for a 11x14" sheet. you can cut it to the size of the tank and it will hold in there by tension.
