hi all
just wondering when breeding bettas and you put the female in a jar inside the breeding tank could you put a few females in different jars and see which one gets on with the male better and which one gets ready to breed quicker?
im just wondering
thanks

No, simply this would be a bad idea as the male will be getting very confused and randy seeing all these females with him then he will get a bit grumpy if he sees you have removed the one he fancied. This would be a risky thing that i wouldnt do but if you want to risk a dead fish upto you :good:

a bit off topic but bwbettas i'm lookin for some betta myself. duno if you could help me out a bit?

do u ship your betta? or is collection?

i'm looking for 1 black half moon male and 1 white half moon male.

cheers :good:

well wouldnt i be able to tell which one he likes best coz he would be around her jar the most wouldnt he?
i dont want no fish to die but i just thought it would be a better way to pick a pair like this
thanks

also one more thing
when should the female go into into the breeding tank?
once the males build the bubble nest?
thanks

oops almost forgott :D what colour is she because light bettas dont show them but i find there gill plates almost blush and if she doesnt have bars or blushing dont put her in because the result will be a dead or very injured betta

ok then
i wont put her in yet then coz she isnt bared just yet
but he has a nice bubble nest going
he seems to really like her but she doesnt seem very intetrested atm
thanks

Have never tried putting more than one female in the tank with the male. If a female seems scared of the male or doesn't look ready then I do switch for a different one.

Bubblenest not always necessary though an advantage. I've often released my females without one and had succesful spawns :D

how long would you normally leave a female in there before you swap her?
coz the female i have in there now has only been put in this mornin so there still could change and she might bar up over night
thanks
jmaster

i would normally leave a female for a day and if intrests are bad i will swap and keep the next in there for only half a day if she doesnt bar up because male will get hungry after a while so try to change females rarely
