How and Why do fish get infected with White Spot.
I would have thought bad water quality.
PH- 7.3 - 7.5
Ammonia - Nil
Nitrite - Nil
Nitrate - 10ppm-20ppm.
Are al these normal?
Why did my fish get white spot?

some of the causes are
an Increase in Ammonia and Nitrate levels
an abrupt change in temperature
white spot is often brought into the tank on new fish or plants.

survivors of a previous infection can become latent carriers
and it can then breakout if the fish gets stressed.

HTH

STRESS, stress of the fish is the main cuase of a ICH outbreak. Most tank have ICH in them just the fish are healthy and stress free and don't get infected with it. But it is not uncommon to see a fish in your tank with like one white spot. But when they are stressed and open they get it bad.

well its a new tank and new fish.
So if my fish survive white spot, it mean i cant put any new fish in?

-_- you can put new fish in, but its always wise to set up a quarantine tank for a couple of weeks to make sure they dont bring anything nasty in. which i found out to my cost.

A quarantine tank is a good idea but not always in the budget.

Sam you will be able to add other fish, just be aware that it is possible for the current ones to be carriers and have some meds ready just in case.

 he could use his 4 gallon as a quarantine tank for a couple of weeks.
