Questions before I consider a Marine setup...

You can use egg crate, very handy in letting water evaporate still, thus keeping it cool, and allowing the light to still get through, but ultimately keeping things out, (in my case keeping things in!).
As you only live in leeds, id recomend going to warrington, his tank is HUGE!!, he has a huge selection of corals, more than any shop ive been in, and he's WAY WAY cheaper, as chris says, he sells it for £7p/kg, and thats cured/un-cured fiji, red sea and tongan. Incase you dont know the difference, red sea is like caribbean, large flat pieces of rock, good for making shelves and overhangs, which certain corals, fish and shrimps love!, tongan is more of a branching coral, which is usually used for the top of the tank, making it look pretty cool, and fiji, this is your basic rock, it comes in many shapes and sizes and hosts tons of life. Getting a mix of the 3 will make your tank look better and give you a better diversity of life. And because its a new tank, i'd personally get un-cured rock, this will help cycle your tank better imho, and it has tons of life living on it, Which, imho, is far more interesting than the fish or the corals.
Once you have good L.R and watched it for months, day and night (with a red light) you'll never go back to FW tanks! You will see new life every night/day. I was finding all kinds of things on my L.R months after it was introduced, and not small things either. of which pics are on here somewhere if you search my posts.

Thanks Leon :D :D

Thanks everyone infact - I can't wait to actually get the £££ together now and get everything I need.... The life on the L.R. sounds amazing.... anything underwater just grabs my attention... I've barely watched TV since I setup my tropical tank

Thats nothing, wait till you get a marine, get loads of rock and sit there for hours loking at all the life, even at night wih a torch with red filter :*) , i still do it for 20 mins or so before i go to bed :*)

I actually invested in two 12inch blue glo tubes for my tropical tank - what's the difference between that and one of similar colour containing Actinic which you mentioned as essential for a marine setup?

Does the addition of a UV tube literally mean a "black light" bulb? Would that harm the fish if left on for too long? -_-
