I have tropical fish and they are great, I now like the idea of tropical frogs, and have a few questions if anyone can help me...

Where’s the best place to get an aquarium for frogs (in Walsall/Wolverhampton/Cannock area), willing to spend upto £100?
What type of frog am I best getting (new to the hobby of frogs so something easy, African Dwarf frogs look nice)?
Can they live in normal tanks with fish?
How should the aquarium be set up?
Will they jump out of tank?
Someone said I need the tank to be half full and could have a waterfall feature using the filter, how could I do this?
How much do frogs cost?

Any help would be appreciated.

hi, It depends on what setup you have?

African dwarf frogs should be kept in a group but are quite delicate so really should only be kept with shrimp and smaller fish,
African Clawed frogs get much bigger, (around 6") and will eat any fish, frogs etc that will fit in their mouths.

These two are the only fully aquatic species, Other species will need a palaudium style setup with access to dry lands

I'm going to buy a new aquarium so I'll be buying fish to suit them, How big does the tank need to be (in litres)? Would you advice getting clawed and having an all frog aquarium or having dwarfs? What are the other frogs that need a palaudium style setup?

There are 50+ species of frog that can be kept in a paludarium setup. Whites tree frog and day geckos are another option. I have been developing and researching a paludarium setup

2 White lipped Tree frog - Litoria infrafrenata
2 Standings day gecko - Phelsuma standingi
4 African dwarf frogs - Hymenochirus boettgeri
8 Chilli/Mosquito rasbora -Boraras brigittae
3 Indonesian floating frogs - Occidozyga lima (perhaps)
8 Endler males - Poecilia sp
6 khuli loaches - Acanthophthalmus kuhlii
1 Siamese fighter male - Betta splenden
Red cherry shrimp
Amano shrimp
horned nerites

Mixing of species is generally dissuaded from however my research has shown some have good results of compatibility. The paludarium setup I have outlined should be safe for all species present the only question mark are the Indonesian floating frogs. The tree frogs and day geckos require a smaller pool to bathe in around 1" as they are not the greatest swimmers and a piece of driftwood from the pool area to the shore on the side to facilitate as a ladder if they fall in. I was going to do the plants as a rivarium setup to maximise pool space also the the land area would be a piece of glass horizontally placed so that there is a large amount of room underneath to act as a cave.

Sounds like it would be an awesome tank Saltynay, I've also been thinking about a mixed species paludarium recently, though in a smaller tank then yours. I'd be wary of the betta in that setup, though it depends on the fishes personalities, the endlers could get nippy with the betta, and the betta could attack the shrimp, though you might be lucky and buy a placid one.

Already have the betta and he already lives with endlers, khulis and shrimp only new thing are the boraras brigittae and the indonesian floating frogs. If you want to downsize a bit then Gold dust day gecko (Phelsuma laticauda), Phelsuma quadriocellata, P. klemmeri, M. viridis, M. laevigata and Hyla chinensis.

M. viridis?! Lol when I said a smaller tank I meant like, 50 litres, don't think it would be wise to jam one of those in there!

lol google is a bit indirect I mean Mantella viridis by M. viridis not the snake.
