Questions About Planted Tanks

Pressurised CO2 is a must with these tanks...they hold 450 litres and have 4*54 watts of HOT5's thats a lot!
Emm...no they dont? They only have 2 x 54W T5's, unless the link has changed.

I cant think of any off-the-shelf tank that has so much lighting you need to buy a CO2 unit.

And remember, there are easy ways of getting round a CO2 unit! Floating plants work great if you feel you have too much lighting...

The lighting on that tank is fine for low-medium light plants, and with CO2 you could grow more demanding plants too, but you don't need CO2 :good:.

theyve changed it three fingers...as of last month they now hold 450 litres and carry 2*T5 light units (2 tubes per unit), pressuming you get new stock that is.

That's awesome news (didn't know that), those tanks are even better now.

However, the tank your talking about isnt in the link provided - Seapets would certainly say if it was, because otherwise they have given the totally wrong details :good:.

Basically, your talking about a different tank :).

edit: Can you give me a link to this news truck? The Juwel website list the tank as the same...

They are all doing fine except the Elodea which just rotted because my lighting isn't good enough.
Go with this set over the other one. These are all 100% aquatic, delivery is super fast and the plants are awesome quality.

i also used that guy when i started my tank up and i personally couldn't fault the service and the plants sent.

you want lots of fast growing plants to begin with, cover as much of the area of your tank as you can also.
do you kjnow what lighting the tank will have? have you decided on your filtration/flow? will you be adding co2 and do you know what ferts you are going to use?

have a good read of this.

Dont really know alot about c02 and ferts. Think I will order some of those plants. I had about 5 plants in my 125l tank but they grew too much and just looked a mess.
Not sure if thats your tank in your sig but it looks awwsome.

This is the tank I am getting if this helps. http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aquarium...rium-black.html

Not in black but its the same.

You guys can probably make more sense of the light specs than what I can.

nice tank!
you dont need to add co2, but you will need to add ferts.

you should get as many different types of plant as you can, that way you get to see what you like, what grows well, what you find more manageable.

the more plants you have in there at start up, esp fast growing stems the better, less chance of having algae attacks etc (as long as you keep up your ferts) but if you do heavily plant you will probably want to up the flow.

i'm not really up on the "off the shelf" ferts i dose EI method so mix my own using dry powers from aqua essentials.

i think it'll depend on how heavily stocked with fish your tank will be.
if its lightly stocked you'll probably want a fert that contains the macros (nitrate and phosphate) too. something like tropica TPN+
if its more heavily stocked then TPN, which is just micros and k should suffice.
