Ok, Ariel is missing a HUGE chunk in her tail, and according to some people on my other pet forum, she has clamped fins, too. Plus, I think Neptune may have fin rot, and if he doesnt his fins are definitely damaged. Would melafix be able to treat all this..? And, how would I have to treat them, and add it to the water and such. We're going to pick up some tonight or tomorrow morning, but I wasnt sure what to get or know anything about it. Thanks for any help!

I was treating my Nemo with Melafix for what i thought was a bacterial or fungal problem. He had what looked like a sore area around the white spot. It did help heal the area of the redness and I've heard it get good comments for help in repairing fins. I read as much as I could because I was nervous about treating him. I did read a comment that if you do not do water changes often, it may contribute to a rise in nitrate. Don't quote me on that. Does anyone know if that is true?? I thought it worked when I used it.

If your tank is filtered make sure to remove the carbon. I didn't know about that before I treated my big tank and it has thrown it for a loop.

Might do, but if you're going to try it, its much easier to make some Melafake.

Or clean water and a bit of salt does pretty well, but for Neptune, some normal finrot meds plus salt and clean water would clear it up.
Ooo...I dont know where I could get tea tree oil, and I think it would be simpler for me to get Melafix... .5ML per gallon...?

It's not filtered.

A lot of places sell tea tree oil, as it's used for aromatherapy, bath oil, insect repelling.... Lots of uses, a £3 bottle will last you ages.

Oo..well we already bought Melafix...so...I just have to figure out about the water changes and stuff. I already know you give them .5 ML but do you do it for a week and do a 25% change like the bottle says? They're all in one gallons.

I used Maracyn 2 for clamped fins. In about 3 days (5 day treatment) his fins were great! It worked wonders.. I wasn't really treating for torn fins but they did look a lot better after treatment. So if the Melafix doesn't work I would suggest that.

Good luck with the Melafix! :good:
