Question For Fw Barracuda

Hello guys, I was looking around the web and came across this website. I was wondering how you would tell a difference between these two fishes. I know that one of them isn't a barracuda and was pretty cheap while the other cost 10 as much.

Cashorro Barracuda (Acestrorhynchus nasutus)

Neither of those look like Acestrorhynchus nasutus to me. Acestrorhynchus nasutus has a dark stripe running from the snout to the caudal fin, and is a smaller fish. I suppose it may be a very young fish, but both those look like the same species to me.

A. falcirostris is supposed to have a dark "collar" behind the gill cover, although the picture in Bænsch does not show that. Nor does the picture in the Fish Index. A much larger species, used as a food fish where it occurs.

CFC might know for sure.

Its actually a Acestrorhynchus falcatus, known as a yellow tail baracuda. It is the same species in both pictures just different ages.

I found this site to be a pretty good source of info and seems to have good information, though I have not really verified it yet. You have any views CFC?

The photos appear to be correctly named, although i myself am no expert on the Acestrorhynchus genus really.
