I am buying some LR from a lady who is selling her whole aquarium setup. I can't tell by this picture but it looks like the tank has already been drained therefore making the rock uncured. If the rock is just sitting dry I guess there is no point in wrapping it in wet newspaper or putting it in a bucket of saltwater immediately.

My question is how long can the rock just sit dry like that before being able to regrow after curing it. I have my 125g setup with live sand and no fish so I have the perfect place to cure it if it's still able to be cured.

I am getting what is believed to be about 75lbs for $100. I guess if it is completely dead then I will just have to add some new LR that is cured to get something started growing again....is this correct? Is this still a good deal if it's dead?

here is a pic from the ad:

i suspect the lr is now dead  it couldn't survive out of water for very long! How long has it been? I wouldn't buy it, buy yourself lr from a tank that is still up and going - there are many around at the moment

Actually I just spoke with the lady and she says it's still in water and has been since she set it up. I'm not sure if she's had powerheads running or not. I just don't think she's had the proper lighting. Still for $100 for 75lbs I think I'm still gettig a deal right? Even if I just used it as base rock for other LR to spread to?

another thought, doesn't look like 75 lbs worth either - even if it is still in water there doesn't seem to be any flow in that tank

i agree, do a little more research to see if its actually live, $1.33 per lb for LR if its us dollars is pretty cheap

Dude, that's dirt cheap for base rock... Even if it's not 75lbs and it is still mostly live it's totally worth it. I'd go get it right now :)

I'm going to look at it today to see how much is actually there. I'll update when I return :good:
