hey, What is the white fluff that seems to apper from nowhere.
they look like small balls of white fluff attached to the glass by a single thin strand.
:dunno:
What is it?

It sounds like some sort of fungus or it could be egg sacs from one of your fish. It is difficult to tell you because yo don't say what fish you have or what your water parameters are and/or what plants you have.
The answer to the question you ask is like searching for a needle in the preverbal haystack. Sorry.

1 x betta
3 x platties
5 x neon tetras
1 x gibbiceps pleco
1 x spotted talking cat fish
4 x dwarf guarmes (2 neon 2 honey)

looking around do you think its a bacterial bloom as the tank is about 4 weeks old
water peramiters are ammonia 0 and nitrite 0

Has you tank been cycled?
Are there any floating bits in the water?
What kind of filtration system are you using?
Is the water cloudy?
What does the water smell like?
With the type of of fish you describe there should be no problem with egg-laying sacs.

I'm a total noob to tropical fish keeping, but I am currently cycling a tank with ammonia. When I first added Ammonia, I got a bacterial bloom, ever since then, all my tank has been coated in white fluff like you describe. Infact the plants don't look so green and I can scrape fluff off if I touch it.

I assume its just bacteria.

ive got catfish and had that problem..... i eventually found out it was uneaten pellets that turned into white fluff like stuff and got all over till i cleaned it all.

yeah the tank is cycled, the water does stink a little but i think that was some plants that have given up and started to rott at the roots. i spotted that a few days back and have now removed the offending plants.

do you feed frozen foods? or live foods by any chance?
i'm no expert but i put a tad too much frozen food in and it sank onto my log and now its white fluff.
a picture would help.

i feed a mixture diffrent each day, but yeah some times frozen bloodworm. cant do piccys no camera good enough

that mite be why (although i'm no expert) only give your fish bloodworms once a week or maybe twice. i have just made that mistake. the fish cant eat all the bloodworms up so eventually they rot and i suppose fluff. its just happened in my tank.
a good water change and filter clean and getting rif of any fluff you see might help
