I have been searching and searching on google trying to find some information about keeping a female betta in the same tank as male bettas divided of course. I can't seem to find anything.

My current set up is 4 divided sections in my 14 gallon with 3 males and 1 female.

Is this ok?

I'd think that the males would be just as stressed with the female there as they would be with the male, if that is your question...

If a male (or two, if the female is in the middle) sees the female, he might build a nest and want to breed, but I don't think you're going for that.

Are the dividers dark or clear? Anything shielding the fish from each others' eyes?

So it's ok to keep the female in there with them ?

The dividers are clear which maybe isn't a good thing....I'm not sure how I could darken them though?

If you feel as though they're stressed you could always put silk plants on one side of each divider. Make them thick so they have to go out of their way to see each other. :)

But I think they're probably fine.I assume they'd be even more upset if they didn't see any other bettas around them at all.

They don't seem stressed to me...it's just I am trying to figure out why my males are chewing their cadual fins. I thought maybe having the girl around was getting them too excited but their behaviour hasn't changed since I put her in.

Yeah I know that they prefer to have company so I guess I'll leave them the way they are and see if things get better.

I have a lot of plants in with them fake and real but they can still see eachother. They are small plants and the live ones are floating. I like the idea of getting some nice tall silk plants though...I'll give that a try:)

Thanks for the advice ;)

I always thought dividers were a bad idea. But I decided to try it when the 1g I bought came with a blue-tinted divider. I figured they wouldn't be able to see each other. But they did and the female seemed more aggressive than the male. Then I lined the divider with plants but they still managed to see each other and flare up. I didn't want them to be stressed all the time so I seperated them. So I don't think it works very well, but you never know. Good luck!!!

The female in the divided tank has added to the problem. I'm a firm believer in the males wanting to fight so bad, they chew their own tails. Now the female has been added to the situation. In nature, the males see a female they want to spawn with, and they fight off the other males. Having her in with them...makes the urgency even greater. I think you will have problems with the males together in a divided tank.

I'm going to be getting some frosted plastic to use for the dividers instead and I hope that'll help my problems:)
