I have a Flower Horn Cichlid in his own 10 gallon tank, how big does this guy get?
I also want to know if he would get along with my betta fish, the Betta is currently in a large bowl but he doesn't look happy as he was when he used to be in his own 10 gallon tank.
Thanks

Flowerhorns are one of the most aggressive fish one can get, and for the most part must be kept alone. A betta would be destroyed. They get to about 12" long and need a 75 gallon tank in the long run.

:D never keep any other kind of fish with those evil critters, iv heard horror storys of whole tanks being desimated and even when kepts alone in pet stores, if they see other fish they become very enraged and will jump and even ram the glass of the tank to try and get the other fish. these fish arnt even safe with their own species, its best that they never see another liveing fish

When I bought him, the helper told me when it gets big it will get up to 250 dollars? Is this true?

yea, he's probably right. it only depends on the color, and the big hump. OTHER PPL MIGHT THINK THAT THE HUMP ON THE HEAD LOOKS WIERD. but i read an article that says that the bigger the hump, will cost a lot more dollars. and if a fish is really perfect, it could cost up to $10,000..

ppl, have you read something about the breed BLUE COMET? is it good or bad?

there alright as a breeding pair mine get on fine together just can't have anything in tank or he trys to eat them no matter how big there are

That flowerhorn wont survive long in that 10 gallon, and unless it is still fry sized it is very unhappy. You need at least a 29 gal for a juvenile. I have a 5 incher in my 29g and it killed my JD in a matter of minutes. Flowerhorns also require oddball water conditions including warm water 82-86 degrees, and more alkaline water with a ph closer to 8. My flowerhorn is my favorite fish, it is full of personality and very very aggressive, I have even had it charge at my hand while moving decorations. And yes some can fetch hundreds of dollars but those have to meet a certain criteria and usually only the top 5%-15% of the fry from a batch of 200 make the grade A status. If you want your fish to have any chance of making that cut you need to follow the guidelines set by breeders that are readily availible online; i suggest visiting http://www.flowerhornusa.com/
they have a very good forum and many experts
here is my flowerhorn

My Flowerhorn is very small, is not even growing the bump on his head yet, how long until I should see him at full size?

I liked my flowerhorn, but he was killing the convicts I had him in with...nobody messes with my convicts, so I sold him. I really miss him now :-(

I say you get the tank size the flowerhorn needs as quickly as possible before you stunt it's growth. Make sure you wait no longer than a couple of months.

I just upgraded the Flowerhorn to my 75 gallon by his self. He loves it.

Flowerhorns grow extremely fast and reach sizes of 15inches. Some don't grow a hump ever it depends on genetics

Are arowanans compatioble with flower horns? Can i keep a 2 inch FH with a 8 inch silver arowana? Tank size is not a constraint.
