I would like to know the correct way of feeding Algae disc (or other sinking food) to bottom dwelers such as Algae eaters. Does the Algae disc need to be broken into pieces? How can I ensure that Algae eaters like Oto could find the food?
The reason I am asking is that I just lost 1 Oto probably due to starvation. It had been in the tank for about a month and did a great job cleaning up the brown algae. Now the tank is quite clean and poor little fish died  (the water chemistry look very safe according to the test kit)
many thanks in advance.

You can put 1 algae disc and if it looks uneaten and fuzzy with mold the next day, remove it. You can break it up if you like and spread it around.

Did anything happen prior to the oto dying, like did you perform a water change? If so, then the WC might have been a different temp or it may have not been dechlorinated.

otto's can be pretty delicate and quite often die for no apparent reason so don't worry yourself too much.

just drop an algae wafer or two in at feeding time, leave them whole they can manage. as always remove any uneaten food if it's still there the next day.
