Hi,
In this index of the hammer coral, it says it can extend its tentacles up to 6" and sting others, so why is it placed so close to the species on the left?
Are some corals resistant to others?

Thanks, Aaron

so i see you only have a tropical tank. so are you thinking of going to the marine side? i think corals only use there tentacles when feeding or when are to close to other corals.

Tentacles can be shorter. My one euphyilla i have never seen put out stinging tentacles, the other has ones that are about 3" long and so i give him his space. He once fell over on my sun coral and stung one of the polyps so they won't hesitate!

Yeah I am, just doing my research at the moment :good: I think I have just about covered the equipment, but I need to look at livestock.

I see, so basically watch them to see the length of the tentacles and move them around the tank as necassary so they have some space.

Thanks, Aaron

it would have to be a pretty huge hammer to sting 6 inches away. In that pic its quite close to zoas which are a soft coral and would get beat by the powerful sting of a hammer. The zoas would grow the in the other direction away from the hammer IME
