Queen Bee RIP

Absolutely gutted, my favourite fish died yesterday, Came home firday to find she had a massive gash in her side beside her gill. don't know how, all the other fish were fine and couldn't see anything she could have caught herself on.and the water paramteres were fine.She was still swimming and eating and there was no fungus so treated the tank with melafix and since the other fish weren't picking on her decided to leave her in there. But i went away saturday and came back sunday to find her dead And now i've noticed the other fish have started flicking so theres goign to be a large water change tonight.
Sorry had to rant somewhere my friends and family don't understand!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. As for what caused it I don't know. The first thing
I thought was that the other fish could have been picking on her. But I don't know.

They could have just gotten into a squabble at some point..you know.

She prolly passed due to the stress of whatever happened to her...sorry for your loss though...she was very pretty.


This is why I decided to make my new "girl's only" tank divided....I keep seeing these threads where girls housed together keep coming up hurt or dead..possibly at the fins of their tank mates. So I'm afraid mine will do it too.

yeah...my "girls only" tank is divided into four. i had a couple of losses due to them not getting along and i was so nervous and constantly watching them...i just couldn't take it anymore. with them divided, i can now relax and they all seem much happier.

Well i initially thought she'd been in a fight but thing is she was called Queen for a reason all the other fish used to run away from her and she was twice the size of the other girls and the other girls looked perfectly fine. What i think may have happend is that she decided to bother one of the two plecs in the tank and duly got herself stabbed by a pectoral fin since the injury looked like a gash ! She will be a very hard fish to replace she had such attitude !!

I am so sorry for your loss.
You will always have your memories so she will always be with you to an extent but I know that's not the same.
Your heart will mend eventually but allow yourself time to grieve.
