Quarantining Yellow Labs

I am thinking about quarantining 2 1-2 inch yellow labs in a 10 gallon tank. Will this work??

How long do I quarantine for? Should I do them 1 at a time?

Maybe for 2-3 weeks but not much more 10 gallons is pretty small.

It'll work for a little while. I'd say try for 3 weeks, 4 if it doesn't seem as though there's to much aggression. They are still small fish. Put enough rocks in to break up line of sight. That should help alot (of course leave room for swimming space).

What should I look for while quarantining?

Anything that's not normal. Fish look funny(spots or whatever). Not acting right. They may act a little weird when you first put them in as they have been moved around quite a bit since they've plopped into your tank. They've probably been in 3 or 4 different holding tanks (including yours) if they are from a supplier from around the country or world.

Make sure you have a mature filter to QT them in that little tank. If you don't they could die anyway(from ammonia poisoning).

okay, I got 2 yellow labs around 1 inch. Right now they look okay but one is reaaalllyy skinny. I'm sure he'll do fine if I give him some special attention in feeding though.

If the stomach is sunken in I've read that it could possibly be some kind of parasite that causes it. I think I've read that before. Do a search about a sunken stomach or something like that if thats how yours is. It may not be anything but malnutrition?.

for the 10 gallon you help me decide tank, I wouldn't put anything long term in there and use it for your QT in the long term. Then when you're done QTing fish rinse/clean it out and store it until next time

I just made a post including sunken bellies actually Most of the reason I made the post is b/c on of my fish had white stuff poking out of it's anus

His belly isn't that sunken anymore but, he is obviously not dominant and gets picked on a lot.

I have had them in there for 2 weeks. So, could I take out the dominant one who seems to be in perfect condition?

Then leave the one that could have a sickness in there? The only thing I noticed this morning was when I turned on the light, fed them, and left they were a nice yellow. Then, when I came back an hour later they seemed to be pale (both)

So I dimmed the lights and they coloured up again any reason for this? Or am I seeing things? And the light isn't that bright. It has 2 incandescents at 15 watts a pop.

I see the colors change all the time with my fish. Totally normal. As for the labs i would suggest, unless your certain that the skinny fish is just skinny and not sick, to not put them in just yet until your certain both of them are healthy and will not affect your other tank.

A couple of my fish do that from time to time. I don't know that it's nec. something wrong.

Are you going to use your 10 gallon as a marine tank? 10's not very big. You'd be looking at only 2-3 fish. If I were you, I'd get rid of some fish in my 30 gallon and keep a few for the 10 gallon then do the marine in the 30 gallon
