Quality Bettas

wow, like plecos are rare and expensive in australia, people seem to have the opposite in america with bettas! The bettas here are about $7 US dollars. And they are highly plentiful everywhere!

We seem to have a plentiful supply of Bettas up here in MN & WI (the Mutt variety of Bettas, haven't looked for any other varities). The average "mutt Betta in a cup" goes for around $3.50 US.

I got very lucky when I bought betta #6...At Wal Mart...He made me take him home with him and when he was placed in his new tank he spread those fins and he is a BEAUTIFUL emerald green and electric blue crowntail! I think someone goofed when they put him in a mutt cup,but he's mine now and he is one gorgeous boy!

Yeah, some gems slip through! My unnamed one is a red crown-fin - but with 'extended spikes' on his fins making him look like a red lionfish when he flares.

Great story Heather, my 5 gal. is just about ready for fish and there's a super Wal-Mart down the street that I would love to rescue a betta from....maybe I'll get lucky too.
