I keep hearing people mention python water cleaners and how great they are. I've read about them and they do sound great as they plug from your tap to the tank but I don't understand where the chlorine ando/or chloramine get removed. Am I missing something? That's the only thing that stops me going out an buying one.

Thanks
Andy

If youre tap water has chlorine, the Python is not that great for filling up the tanks. You can still fill up bucket of water and treat for chlorine there, before you add to your tank. The Python will still be great at gravel cleaning, just as long as you have good water pressure :)

but I don't understand where the chlorine ando/or chloramine get removed.

When you use the Python system to refill, just add the dechlorinator to your tank right before adding (or, if you're dextrous, as you add) the water. Dechlorinator products act so quickly when they find chlorine, that the few-second risk to your fish is minimal.

If it makes you feel better, you can add half the dose at the beginning, and add the other half part-way through the water addition.

I've used the Python system to refill my tanks for about seven months, and have seen no noticeable "stress".

Completely agree with Bol, I've used one for years. Dechlorinators work instantly and stay active untill it actually comes into contact with chlorine or metals in the water. I add it just before filling up the tank. I couldn't imagine doing my water changes with buckets!

I've wondered about the chlorine,too...I have to get a python. I use a 13 gallon rubbermaid trash can to empty dirty water into with the siphon, drag it in the bathroom and empty it,and refill the tanks with 2 plastic gallon jugs.

New Boy,

If availablility is your concern, I seem to remember people mentioning a product called "Lee's" something or other, which is supposedly identical a Python, and available in the UK.
