Are they hardy? Could I get them early on in my stocking ( after I've cycled properly obv)?

Oh cool, are you pleased with them? I was half and half about them until a few days ago but now I think they're the sweetest little things and I definitely want some.

"Pygmy cories" is a general term that covers a number of species. To my knowledge the reasonably commonly available ones are C.pygmaeus, C.habrosus and C.hastatus.

I have pygmaeus and habrosus, which I have found to be sturdy and hardy fish. the habrosus in particular are just amazingly placid and not nervous in the slightest.
I agree with you, they are the cutest little things, and are very social, so get a group of at least 3, at the very minimum.

for pygmy corys imo the min is 6 ive kept 4 before and they never used to shoal and would just stay at the back of the tank and not really move now i have 6 they shoal alot better and are alot more active.

Fair enough, but it's not my experience. I currently have a shoal of 3 habrosus in with a betta, and a shoal of 3 x pygmaeus in my 80 gallon community. Both sets shoal very well, and are clearly delighted with life.
There are clearly other factors involved other than plain shoal numbers, but for me, 3 works.

How hardy are we talking here? Would anyone add them to a newly fishless cycled 240L community tank before say a couple of Blue or Bosemani Rainbows?

Oh right, i didn't know there were different kinds. Thanks guys.

I've allowed room for 6 in my planning btw.

3 x Male Guppies

All sounds good to me.

Those particular ones are Corydoras pygmaeus.

They are cute :good:

I have 10 pygmaeus and 3 habrosus in a 9 gal tank and they get on great,i originally had them in the 55 gal,but hardly seen them, now they're in their own tank and have started breeding :)

Hi guys, thanks for your help again.

My tank is 60L (nearly).

Pygmys should be ok as long as you do everything you can to reduce any stress for them e.g. lights sudden water/temp changes ect ive only got 4 atm and they seem to be doing ok will get more tho lovely little fishies :D
