ok so i guess this is sort of a stupid question, but ive heard you can make caves out of pvc pipe for cichlids and theyll lay their eggs on/in it. so does it have to be big enough for them to fit into it?

well....yes....if you expect them to lay their eggs IN it...then they have to be able to FIT IN it...

the answer '' yes the pvc pipe needs to be big enough for them to fit in '' would have been a kinda answer.

I use drainage / guttering pipe in my tanks, like the kind you use on a house, they come in all sizes, cheap too. i buy a 2 meter length and chop it to the desired length.

Terracotta flowerpots make good cichlid caves for breeding and hiding places -come in various sizes, cheap and easy to get hold of
