Im just trying to catch the fry I don't want none of my other fish to eat them...
The thing is, they produce around 30-40 fry per drop, on the evolutionary assumption that in the wild, the majority
will be eaten. And they drop fry every 4-6 weeks. So that's up to about 500 fry per year.
What are you going to do with 500 little fish? Very few LFS will take privately-bred livebearers, and those that do probs won't even think about taking them until they're at least 3-4 months old, so that's potentially 90 little fish, as a bare minimum at any one time. If you were to find a website to offer them to others for free, they still won't go until 3-4 months old. And remember that this is an ongoing problem. Once you get rid of one lot, there's another drop coming in a few weeks....
Our caring human instincts are to try and save the fry, we can't bear to think of them being eaten, because we are biologically disposed to care for our own young. Sometimes, and IMHO this situation is one of those times, one has to accept that Mother Nature's alternative plans are probably for the best.
If you have a well planted tank, with perhaps some Java Moss, some fry will probably survive. But not enough to cause you problems in the long-term.
