Hi all!

My fry got moved from their breeder net to a five gallon tank yesterday. They're doing just fine. I'm a little bit worried about them getting enough to eat, but they all look fine and there's plenty of food in there, so I think they're doing fine. The filter is turned down to the lowest setting and I've had no problems with fry getting sucked in to it.

Question: This tank is already cycled/mostly cycled. Ammonia and Nitrites were at zero tonight. Will it become "uncycled" or will the fry and food produce enough "stuff" to keep the bacteria alive?

Thanks!

There will be enough bacteria for whatever ammonia is present.

Probably a lot of bacteria will die because there won't be as much ammonia to feed on but enough will live for the ammonia that's being put out.

And as the fry gradually grow, the bacteria will increase to meet their needs. Just don't suddenly make any big increases in the fish population and all will be well.
