OK, so I'm using tetracycline (which I found out isn't legal in some parts of Canada) came home tonight and can barely see in my tank the water is so dark. Is this normal?!?
Also the thick foam at top of the tank ... should I remove it with a net?
I am so discouraged ... -_-

I've never seen water turn purple wiht tetracycline. Usually i see it turn orange or yellow. I have had the same foam as you described, and found it almost impossible to remove. I just it controlled and scooped part of it out, and fed the fish on the other side of the tank.

I have no clue what would cause the purple. What brand of tetracycline are you useing?

It's from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals ... and it was really hard to find.
It's day two of the treatment (two to go) and my fish don't look any better.
Do you think I should be worried?

My boyfriend points out that it might not be purple after all, maybe it's red (we have a blue background and I may have panicked) How 'bout red, is that normal?

to remove the foam use sheets of paper from your printer or kitchen roll. lay it on the foam and it will socak in to the paper/roll and is easy to remove.
