Purple-spotted Gudgeons

I've read that

unfortunately this is becoming [ has been ] a problem with many fish in the wild , for various reasons , but yes , thanks to the aquarium trade we still have few around .

A shame too , have to get ours to breed successfully :)
 
Actually Morgurnda adspersa is virtually extinct and Morgurnda morgurnda isnt doing too well in its native enviroment due to the introduction of invasive predatory species and habbitat destruction, fortunately the aquarium trade is keeping the species going by captive breeding.

I would agree, I've never actually seen a live M. Adspersa, and M. mogurndas haven't been available since our first one we purchased a couple years ago. I don't know how wel M. clivicola are doing in the wild, but they seem to be the only mogurndas we can buy :unsure:
 
If most of these are such easy fish to breed why don't they set up some sort of breeding program to aid in the species rehabilitation. That seems like the first thing environmentalists would do.
 
I found gudgeons!!!!!!!!!! I called all the pet shops within 60 miles of me and found a place that can order them YES!!!!!! I'll have to post some pics as soon as I get everything sorted out thanks for all the advice :drool:
