I don't celebrate Halloween, but we have tons of trick-or-treaters and I am the "artsy" type, so I have to carve pumpkins. :p Every year I learn something new, and this year I tried a new technique, and style. I've got 3 pumpkins to do, here is the first, and largest. Really big. It is half green and half orange, but I carved in the green side to have the dramatic effect. I quite like it.

Here it is lit... I'll try to get a better pic Halloween.

And here it is with the lights on. Obviously the color is screwy, but oh well. You get the idea.

After I carve the other 2, I'll post them, if I like em. ;)

 Too long... maybe 2 - 3 hours. Doesn't look like it, but the partial carving out took a long time. I'm new to it also, so it took me a bit to get the hang of it. I know this isn't the most intricite pumpkin, but I think it's kinda neat.

Thanks!

Wait... so it's not cut all the way through? And how did you get it black? Paint, marker?

I like it

Nope, it's only cut like 3/4 of the way through, so it's sort of a translucent effect - very cool. And the pumpkin is actually dark green, it just showed up black in the pics. Another cool effect I think, makes it very 3D.

Miss Julie said I should post mine in here ;) These are my three I did yesterday, but they aren't fancy-smancy like J's :p But oh well, here they are :)

This is the one Spencer wanted :D It's a mummy :look:

This is the one my husband picked, I think it's psycho, but what do I know :S

Our carving basically consisted of the husband and kids telling me what they wanted and then they sat on the couch
