pump head height

This is a complicated subject if u want to get into all the theory but basicaly don't buy a filer or pump and make it move water over the max head hight i.e. if it says max head hight or 4m then don't have the outlet more then 4m!

Now when you mean outlet no more then 4 meters do you mean vertical height from pump or total distance from pump (vertical and horizontal)

my vertical height would only be at most 1 metre.

Okay as I said every item you add to the system hads to the haed or resistance or presure drop.

I really dont think Tropjunky really know what he is taking about but may be im wrong.

I was wondering if you had a chance to look at those 2 pumps 1 posted the link to?

im thinking about going that qb80: 55l min, max head 55 metres, max suction 9 metres.

Do you think it would work

Sorry yes it would work but I was trying to see if there was a better pump for you on the market. I run a shed of 48 - 4' aquariums on a pump witch has a .5Kw motor in it and you will be running just one on a pump with a motor .75Kw. The only problem you will have is the money you will save on the pump you will probably spend each year to run it.

I have been trying to find a pump that you can get in AU which would be more cost effective.

I'll keep searching

thanks for your help

just letting every one that my pump should be delivered today.

I think its going to be an over kill but i'll see. And when i do upgrade to my bigger tank and can just move it.

pump specs:

55l/pm
max head 50 meters
max suction 9 meters
1hp

filter setup:

tank - pump - arkal disk filter (100 micron) - 20"x4.5" cartridge filter (20 micron) - fluidized bed filter (rated @ 1000 litres) - fluidized bed filter (rated @ 1000 litres) - ozone chamber (for my future ozone reactor) - c02 reactor - UV sterilizer (2 x 9 watt setup in a loop system. Will handle about 10000 litres) - back into tank

hopefully will be fully setup today and then ill post some pics.

it should filter about 2200-2800 litres an hour.
so should do the tank 3.5 - 4.5 times an hour much better then the eheims i was running.
