Puffers

MY lfs sells the pea puffers (as they call them ) I have been doing alot of reading on Dwarf puffers and every thing says they dont need salt. the LFS said that these pea puffers do. They look extremly tiny not even an inch long when I seen them I thought for shure they were dwarf puffers I just dont understand the salt thing. Is the fish store just mistakin and I wouldn't have to add salt. What would you do?

if they are indeed dwarf puffers, then they are totally freshwater and should not be kept in brackish (salt) water. now, it could be that they are actually tiny green spotted puffers (which can get up to 6 inches....), which are brackish and require salt. ask the store if they know the scientific name of the puffer they have there to be sure. if they don't know it, don't buy them until you can positively look at the fish and know for sure which kind of puffer it is.

I've heard DP's called pea puffers before so they very well could be. If never seen GSP come in that small but who knows they very well could be....
