Fish Fanatic
First off I want to say i'm sorry for my words towards mrV. I didn't mean to defile your forums, and I will refrain from outbursts in the future. No, I don't have any respect for mrV. But I do realise that this is a family forum. Now i'd like to explain how I feel, which in turn helps you understand why I spoke out like that:
In a fish store, fish are a product. Something to 'Sell'. You know what I do? No, you don't. You'd think I sell fish, but thats only part of it. I spend 8 hours a day running back and forth to please customers. I get told off by so many people it isn't even funny. I work very hard to make sure that I tell every customer everything I know about what they are asking about, and I try to give everyone the best experiance in the store. I work for hours cleaning every of the 150's betta's cups by hand, feeding them, and making sure none are dead or injured. Then I still have to feed 360 aquariums, and inspect each one for dead fish or disease.
That doesn't even cover the small animals or birds.
Then I get people that come in and tell me off because one or two fish are sick. I bet something'd at because one tank out of 360 of them has a few sick fish. Then people expect me to go out of my way to give them deals on their purchases because I can't keep 360 tanks and 150 bettas perfect. I've been keeping fish for 6 years, and the reason I got the job was because I could tell anyone what they needed to know.
But you know what? People don't care. I spend 10 minutes telling someone how to keep their betta healthy, and then they become snooty and annoyed because "everything costs too much". Well fish is an expensive hobby. I'm sorry. No you can't put 'Nemo' (false percula clown) in a fish bowl. No I don't have any feeder comets until Friday. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yes its all my fault sir that the fish died on you, i'll replace it. No I can't give you 3 for the price of one. It's not my authority to do so sir. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I say this all day. For 8 hours. With 45 minutes of breaks that I often don't get to go on because I have too many customers. You know what? I'm not sorry anymore. If you don't like the way I talk, if you don't like my Bettas because I put them in cups, the blank all of you. Maybe people could think of the fish guy's feelings before they go and let out all their frustrations from the day in a little thing like a sick fish or a Betta in a cup.
Haha. I try, and I want to help. But I can't stand ignorant people. Especially ones that think it is our fault (the fish guys) for the way fish are kept in a store.
