Hi Guys,

A while back I had posted on a 20g and losing signifers. I lost all but three females. Prazi/quickcure didn't save them but the remaining three survived for a month after Maracyn plus. All the signifers that I lost did the surface breathing but they also had red gills.

A few weeks ago I bought four threadfin rainbows and one signifer male. All doing great. Good colour. Two back to back doses of Prazi (didn't repeat like I should have later on in the week).

I put the three signifer females in the 10gallon tank with them about six days ago. Two days ago noticed the signifer male was losing his colour. He isn't eating and his back fins are down. I noticed laboured breathing today and tonight he is at the surface and his girls have joined him (for company maybe).

I dosed with prazi after a 20% water change this afternoon. I'm wondering if it would be safe to also dose with maracyn plus at the same time rather than hope it's parasitic.

What do you guys think? He doesn't have red gills like the first batch did when they died. He's the last male in the city and I don't want to lose him.

Tank stats are great. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 6, ph 7.4, temp 75.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Karrie

Sounds like you are still battling gill flukes.
I wouldn't add the bacterial med if there having trouble breathing as the parasite med will not be helping.
Have you increased aeration in the tank.

I turned on a 3" bubble stone this evening - normally on just overnight but I'll keep it on.
Do you know if Maracyn and the prazipro are compatible? (Just in case?)
The three females survived after the maracyn and the male was from the same tank at the LFS so he's survived at least a couple months. I don't think it's coincidental that he was thriving before adding the three signifer females and now he isn't.

Thanks Wilder.

Karrie

It's up to you if you add the maracyn but I would only do it in issolation.
once they start to labour breath to be hoenst the damage has aready been done.
Good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
