Pruning swords question

That, uh, fishroom is finished comment in another thread...

They are beautiful swordplants. But as others have noted, they are pretty well untrimmable. They'll grow to the surface. Since it would be a shame to waste them, I would get a larger, taller tank set up for South American fish, and use them there. It would be beautiful.
I agree. They are beautiful and would only plant them in a 55 to 75+gal tank. Those in my avatar are in a 75g and were juveniles when the pic was taken. They are now 5" from the surface and going strong. Will post pics in the future.

gwand, don't cut sword leaves in half. If you have to do something, remove the entire leaf down to the crown. Start with the outer leaves...but it's only a stop gap for plants too big for your tank...Move them or trade them, they're just too big for your tank.
