Prolapsed Uterus? Platy Had Babies Today...

My Sunburst Platy had babies today. There is a "bubble" which must be her uterus, it has veins throughout it, that is protruding out of her about 1/4 inch. Can anybody tell me if this is common? or if I need to take some action? What may have caused this?

I know it's common for fry to get stuck when birthing, but I personally have never seen it. Maybe if you can take a photo, someone here can see and tell you what is going on with the fish.

It is the tube that the female uses to have here babies! But maybe it is a stuck baby, but I dont think so.

I was unaware there was any "tube" that females use to have babies. What body part is this? I don't know any female animal that uses a tube to give birth. Can you explain what you are referring to here? If you are referring to a uterus that prolapses and then goes back into the female, that is one thing, but I don't believe I've ever heard of this "tube" in a fish.

It is knida like the " birth canal" just like cihclids use to lay eggs, but by the pic, it looks like what happend to my swordtails, I dont know what it was but they never had babies again.

Whoa! That looks too large to be a stuck fry. Based on what I know about prolapsing in humans, I would guess that's what happening here. I would have no other guesses. I haven't read much about prolapsing in fish. I doubt there is much you can do though. Hopefully someone else has some experience.

Update, It is now turning pinkish, it may be filling up with blood! Does anybody know what I can or should do, if anything???

The tube thing is called the vent. It looks prolapsed to me.

as far as i know theres nothing you can do about it.
leave her for a few days to see if it corrects itself, which i fear is unlikely. if she is still feeding then watch to see if any poo comes out. if not then it may be kinder to euthenise.

I'm afraid I agree with Black angel, had something similar happen once and unfortuantely the fish died, keep aa close eye on her if she eeats and poos, then she may be ok so long as you watch for an infection, any ssign of trouble though and I might be tempted to put her out of her misery

Yesterday she had normal poo, today she may be constipated. She is hanging at the bottom of the tank mostly, she eats what comes her way, but today not going to surface to eat.

Microwave a pea, smoosh it up a bit and let it sink down to her. That will relieve constipation most of the time. I don't think that's directly related to a prolapsed uterus though.
