I am gonna get a saltwater tank but not for a long time cause i got save monye up for my other stuff like collage next year a so on. So i save money up very slowly for this. I am getting info on saltwater an i gotta keep up with my fresh water tanks.

I have an empty 30 gal tank i will use it for my saltwater tank. It is 30 inches long an 18 inches goin down. i know i am not bright. So my question is what type of gravel should i use sea shells stuff or the sand type stuff. ? I think i would like to try the sand stuff cause it would look my natural but i am not sure if i should use it

By the way this tank will have fish in it. I it is not gonna be a corral tank.
Fisrt off what fish are good to start with ? an i think i am gonna go with a community tank so what fish should i get for that. I will be looking at that stuff but i need imput cause that helps.

What decorations are good for saltwater tanks ? or is there no decore i am not sure.

What would be a good filter for a saltwater tank ?

What are some things i would need to put in the water ? i know sea salt you put in there an i think there is other things you put in it

Thanks this would be alot of help :hey: unless i am not telin you enough info

i guess you could keep some clownfish in a 30 gal..,if your into finding nemo

;) Just be sure you know what you need and what to do, as SW isint really for begginers.

It'll cost alot of money, but in the end it's so worth it

TFF read those pinned articles by GL. Even if you don't want corals there is a good case to be made for live sand/live rock. You'll need a protein skimmer still if you go that route, but no other filtration. Only about 5-7" of fish to start (so you are talking 2 clownfish sized fish really). Gonna be super hard to keep the parameters stable. 30G is a nano, not for beginners at all.

If you do it though, and you get bags of sand and base (dry) rock, I can sell you a heavily encrusted rock and some snails, and give you a bag of sand full of critters to help jump start your tank and minimize the cycle.
