Hi,

New here and looking for some advice.

During maintence i noticed my nitrate levels being abit high.

Since Saturday done a 50% water change 25%-(Sunday) 10% Monday, tuesday and today and there still seems to be no change in Nitrate levels. (So over the past 5 days the tank has been emptied)

I'm reading nitrate levels to be between 20 - 40 ppm and Ammonia levels to be 0 - 0.25 ppm

I have about 20 Malawi cichlid fry (about 3 months old) and 2 sucking loach my tank it 125ltr.

Do you think my ammonia and nitrate levels are something i should be worrying about?

i'd test your tap water as mine has around 20-40 ppm nitrate lvls, and the ammonia looks like it's at zero..so if it's coming out ya tap at 20-40 ppm theres not a lot you can do(plants maybe). but i'm no expert, just an opinion :)

Yer added plants - maybe add more.

Cheers for replying,

I've had similar problems in my 208ltr cichlid tank, just make sure you clean up the food on the bottom that isn't being eaten and keep doing water changes regularly. Plants are always good but cichlids do like to have fun with them so just make sure you have them anchored down well!
