Problems With Fluval U1

So, I am having some issues with my Fluval U1 pump.

When i first installed it, it was treading a lot of water, and you could really see the flow of water coming out of it. It also has an adjustable vent to let air through. The last couple of days, something has happened. I can't se the stream of water coming out of it like it used to do, I can barely feel it with my finger, and there is no air bubbles coming out of it even if i take the top of the "air-vent".

Any suggestions anyone?

Hm, I have a Fluval U2 which I assume is about the same. Have you tried turning the larger knob (it says A-B-C near it)? Turning mine all the way to one side turns the flow off then I can adjust the flow with the knob and adjust the amount of air/bubbles with the venuri valve (I'm still not 100% sure what the two knobs do lol but I just play with both until I get my desired flow). Also maybe take it apart and make sure nothing inside is impeding the movement?

They are good filters most of the time.
Unclip the motor off the bottom and check the impellor isnt clogged up and also check the rest of the filter for blockages.
They also slow down when the pads inside them get blocked with debris.

i've returned 2 filters to the LFS recently with My U2's with exactly this problem....its a fault...if you have a receipt..take it back!

I've just had the same issue. Gently rinse and squeeze out your sponge in old tank water and when you put it back in to the filter make sure it's not packed too tightly at the bottom.

I did a thorough rinse the other day, which fixed my problem. Although, it is strange how it suddenly clogged up like that.
