Snazy, I noticed that in the pic in your signature, you have leaves in your tank. Are they hardwood leaves and do they stain your water??? Are they for lowering your ph???
They are almond leaves I got from e-bay. They do stain the water with tannins but it depends how many you put and it's gone after the next water change. They are supposed to make the water softer but as far as lowering the Ph, not in my tanks. I put them in 4 of my tanks and the Ph hasn't moved one bit. It could be because my water has better buffering capacity and I do 50% water changes weekly, but I did leave them in the betta tank without for longer to test and naah, no change. I don't want them to change the water anyway but the fish like the tannins and hanging around the leaves, my pleco ate nearly all of them, and they are supposed to have good health benefits as well. They are messy when they start falling apart though, which happens in 2-3 weeks but they grow good microorganisms while doing so and the fish eat them. My platies were taking chunks out of them when they melted enough.
