Problem With Koi Carp Pond-need Help

Hi,can anyone tell me what this slime on my dads pond might be? He's had it for about 10 years with Koi carp in it and put a new pump and filter on about 4 weeks ago.You can't see very well from the photos but it's really fluorescent green.Do you think the fish might be in any danger?

Hi Mark,
is the water green as well? Do you have a uv fitted? That would help alot. If its blanket weed that you have, the best product to use is cloverleaf blanket answer. This will clear it up with you will need to clear your filters afterwards (and possibly your pump) as it has to go somewhere. Do you have plenty of air going into your pond? How deep is it by the way? Hope this helps

Sheba,the water has been green for ages,I think that is why he bought the new pump and filter.He's never had any UV stuff on it though,and the pond is about 18-24 inch deep at the deepest part .

tjp,do you think it's just a matter of waiting for it to clear then? How long does this sort of thing last?

u should try and get as much of the floating stuff as u can but yes ... its just amatter of time if u want it to happen naturally but u han help it my gettin a uv filter
