Has any had any priming problems with Fluval 405's when starting with no water in the canister?

Mine doesn't seem to be working? "/

Thanks Nettley

I have 2 fluval 205. One works without being primed. Just open the valve switch it on away to go.
The 2nd, is a right b1tch to prime and get going. I have to tip water down the inlet pipe to start a syphone.

Cheers dude will try tipping water down the inlet and will let you no if no luck..

Shell I tip the water down while the pump is on? or off then turn it on once Ive tipped water down?

Whilst the filter is off, open up the valve into a bucket and see if water comes through, it might only come out of the inlet pipe.
If nothing comes through you have lost siphon. Place a length of pipe in the valve inlet and suck, this should get the siphon action going. Try not to swallow to much of the water
If this doesn't work... fill up the canister before reconnecting and then pump the siphon pump, you should see the air being forced out of the out let pipe. Switch on and keep pumping until the air stop.
Before trying any thing make sure the ball is in the inlet pipe and not stuck.

Its up and running thank you! :D had the fill up the canister tho.. but there is a good strong current from outlet now!

Got a water test on the tank today and everything is fine apart from ammonia :( ..so have to wait even longer to put fish in!

I fill the canister with water. Shut the valve, fill the pipe with water. Connect it all back up in the tank. Turn it on, and open the valve. Works every time.

Glad to see its up and running
