So My Bolivians breed and its a great experience but I definitely cant handle this every month and i don't think their tank mates can either. Any ideas on how to prevent them from spawning again (temp , pH). I read about how closely Rams bond/pair and i would feel guilty splitting them up.

I think the best, stress free way, would be just to cull the batch. Simply take whatever object they spawn on, and throw them away (eggs that is.) Once you place it (being the object) back into the tank, eggless, they should go back to normal.

Terrible news... Got home from work yesterday and immediately noticed that the fry went from ~100 in the morning to ~20 and the male ram had stress patterns and was hiding in plants away from the fry.

I woke up this morning and the male had died... :-(

Im assuming the other fish in the tank after some fighting got through to some of the young. Any other thoughts?

 That is bad news! I'm not sure, maybe the female could have even got a little aggressive afterr seeing the male eat the eggs? I have had that happen to me when breeding Angels, but it could have been Mommy eating the eggs and also getting aggressive. Yes, Cichlids are weird! :S

What other fish do you have in the tank?
