Pregnant

im thinking i got a couple ov pregnant fish in my tank!

im not very good with remembering the names, but 1's a little zebra (sumit lol) and cant remember other name at all.

bought them in groups of 5 about 6 months ago and the other 4 are really small now compared to 1 ov each group!

now i have all sorts ov fish and other things in tank, like angles, parrots, black & silver sharks etc etc, a turtle and a newt.

is there any way ov telling if they r defintly pregnant, because id like to breed them, even if it means getting another tank and putting them in there so they r safer!!!!!!!


also have any1 from uk, seen those TRIOP things in argos for £7, i think u can grow ur own live fish food, any more info on this would be helpful too.

unless they're livebearers (guppys, platys, mollies etc) they're not pregnant, they're egg-layers. and probably egg scatters so if your tank is as overstocked as it sounds, they'll get eaten pretty sharpish. is the zebra one a zebra danio possibly?

how large is your tank? keeping amphibians together with fish isn't usually the done thing. (unless it's an enormous tank, and either the fish are enormous, or dinner)

yup thats the 1, a zebra danio!

only reason i got the turtle in tank is been after 1 for ages and got the chance ov it just before xmas, on sorting a tank out now to house him! he rarely trys to eat the fish, yes they r bigger than him but not by much (baby turtle), but saying that i cant find my plec anywhere.

tank is 4ft x 2ft!

yes im pritty new to all ov this so just really experimenting at the minute, but touch wood i've only lost about 4/5 fish since april when i started!

I don't know what newt eat but I know the turtle surely eat fish if he/she can have chance to catch. After all that is why store put the feeder goldfish or feeder guppy to the turtle tank. And bigger the turtle get more likely to catch fish. So I don't know what is your intention but I wouldn't be surprise to see your fish fins get nipped or shred or worse get killed and eaten sooner or later. It more likely to happen everyday as the turtle get bigger and older. I know it is still growing. Unless you are going to separate the turtle and fish, fish will be disappear.
So I hope you are going to get the separate tank for separate not to breed.

yer will have 3 tanks very soon!!!

my community tank i got now, hopefully if all goes well a good breeding tank, and 1 for turtle, i heard turtles like a little bit land, how would i go about this fitting filter and heater into same tank, is it ok to put filter and heater on side under the water if tank is big enough???
