If you followed my last post, "A Trip To Walmart And 1 Very Pregnant Guppy...", this is the same fish... only things have been changed around a bit...

this fish is no longer alone, I added in the 3 other guppys with her and took her out of the breeding trap... she seemed really stressed out in there, but now she seems fine....

If she starts giving birth, I will take out the others and put her in the trap again, but I really see no point in stressing the fish any more then it needs to be....

anyway, I want you oppinion... is she pregnant? or maybe it an infection? i'm not sure..
I think she is starting to show a gravid spot, :good: but this could be something else.... it's hard to see in these pics, but she actually looks a bit darker...

sorry about the quality...

mm i think just fat as i cant see much of a gravid spot

I made a similar mistake with a cousin once, in my experience it is always better to say "Fat" for some reason, fat people hate being thought of as looking pregnant !

Pregnant deffo.
Guppy females can hold sperm within their bodies and from only one mating can give birth to sucessive broods whthout being near a male, maybe as many as 4.
Dont use breeding traps as they do stress the female. Place her in a small tank 12x8x8 a week before she is due to give birth. to stop or reduce fry mortality by some plastic pan scrubs and unfurl them to provide cover for the newly born fry.

ok... UPDATE... I'm thinking it is surley Pregnant...

The Gravid Spot went from light and small this morning, to HUGE and really dark black....

one of my zebra danios looks like that i just thought it was fat whats The Gravid Spot what should i look for?

she is pregnant, the gravid doesnt have to be large but more intense in colour almost jet black, yes swelling does also help but if young fish this is not always the case.
for the person who asked what a gravid spot is, its the area just above the anal fin and getts darker thru pregnancy, this area is somewhat clear when not pregnant but still visible, some people mistake gravid with pregnancy, the trick is simply a dark spot is preggers!!!

:hyper: :hyper: you shouldnt be saying things like that but it made me laugh....read some of your previous posts, Great sense of humour mate.

i'd say pregnant, just beware that they can have upto 7 lots of fry though a single mating, and most mine do get up to there 7th lot

oh right so what should i be on the look out for?

Probably fatness, but there will be some other symptoms but Im not sure as Ive never kept them. If you want to keep the fry try not to let the eggs be eaten
