Hi all, I'm new to this forum but have had tropical fish for around 9 months now.
I bought 6 neon tetras a few weeks ago and when I got them back I noticed that one had a much rounder stomach than the others. I assumed that this one was pregnant and also assumed it was a female due to the curved blue line (although I know it is very hard to tell).
Since then I have watched them closely and I have noticed that the tetras stomach looks very lumpy (as though it is filled with eggs maybe?)
I wondered if it was overfeeding so I have reduced the amount of flakes that I give to them each morning but then a few days ago I noticed the tetra hiding behind an ornament. As I watched she seemed to be laying an egg!? A clear sack which looked like it had an orangey coloured middle? She swam off and dropped it somewhere in the gravel and I haven't noticed anything since!!!
Any ideas???

Neon tetras don't get pregent they lay eggs so it most likley would just be over feeding or she is about to lay eggs. Neons lay eggs regually and a male would need to fetalise them once they have been layed but it is very rare for neon fry to be born.

I'm struggling to get a good photo of her but she looks very lumpy, which to me makes me think that she is full of eggs.
I'm also a bit worried because she seems a bit smaller than the others...i don't know if she isn't growing properly

Ino how hard it is to get a good photo I prefere taking a video and getting a picture from there I tend to get all of my information from the internet so you could also take it from there.
