Is my balloon molly pregnant? The black male has been chasing her non-stop and she’s been getting fatter over time! If she is how long before fry from the look of the photos? Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Male livebearers (guppies, platies, swordtails, mollies) will constantly harass the females, which is why I prefer to keep them in single sex tanks (either all male or all female). Single sex tanks stop the males pestering and harassing the females.

If you have some Water Sprite plants on the surface, it will provide the babies with more hiding places. However, the male Glossolepis incisus (New Guinea red rainbowfish) will probably eat any babies she has.

I agree, I saw once my male swordtail courting the alpha female, he did it so fast that she hit her head on a decor and then they were swimming in circles so fast! Lol, that was funny! :rofl::rofl:

Thank you for feedback! Will see how she goes, might put her in other tank without male! :)
If you do, scoop her out with a cup, not a net. Nets can kill the fry if she is pregnant. Make sure the new tank in big enough and is cycled
