pregnant molly rubbing

Hi all,

One of my lyretail mollies is pregnant and i think is about ready to drop, she's had the gravit spot for about 4 weeks now but last night i noticed that she was flicking on the surface gravel a little bit, not a great deal just every now and again. Just as a precaution i put some treatment called methalyne blue that supposed to cure about 5 diseases.

i was just wandering that if she has the fry will it affect them in any way that this treatment is in the tank. i've also got some female guppies in there that i recently bought from lfs and when i bought them i was told that they were pregnant to.


Any reply would be helpful as i'm a bit new to all this fish keeping

Do you have a water testing kit? You should know how the nitrites, ammonia, etc., levels are... that could be the cause. Or if its not the water it could be parasites....

Usually treatment doesn't affect fry... just make sure you are treating the right thing and dont overdose. Don't feel bad, this is a great question... let us know what happens

i checked my ammonia and nitrite levels and there both on zero, so hopefully this treatment will cure it now

usually when an lfs clerk tells you the guppy fish is a pregger, its not always a pregger. That just means when the fry were young, they were not separated when they were 4-5 weeks old and could have possibly bred since then. That's all. When I bought my first 4 gups, they told me the 2 females were preggers, but only one was. I know b/c I'v had them a few weeks and one just got a gravid spot about a week ago. The other female died. I don't know why .

But I bought another one to replace the dead one and they also said she was a pregger, and she is. I am really thinking she will be going into labor soon, b/c her stomach is becoming square and her gravid is getting dark.
