Ok so I bought my first guppies a week ago and after alot of research on the net I figured out that my females were already preggers. Not a big suprise, there were males in the female tank. So I took the females out and put them in a 10 gallon tank that was only inhabited by a sucker fish. One female got very big, and had a very large dark spot and I noticed something coming out of her (thicker than poop). So I turned the lights on and found my little breeder cage thing and within less than a minute when I looked at her again, nothing. She looked smaller, no black spot. No babies. Last night 2 other females got big and I watched them till it was very late. By the morning, they were smaller, no black, no babies.

Am I crazy?

maybe the mom ate em or any other fish on the tank. or maybe sucked by your filter. are there any hiding place for the baby gups?

Thats weired -_- If i remember correcly you have small cichlids in the tank right? Is their any chance That the guppies might have droped when you were not looking? If the fry droped in your big tank, their are a number of places they could have gone :/ Id have a good long look through the tank. I over look babie fry all the time. :good:

They females are in another tank. Not in with the cichlids. It's just them. I didn't think about the filter...need to put some pantyhose on it.

Thanks for the reminder.

Anyone have any pics of what a preg guppy looks like?

are there many hiding places, plants, floating plants offer the best cover for the fry, also the females WILL eat the fry if they see them

Ok, well I think maybe they were just very very full from dinner?!? Sometimes I'll look them and they look like they are about to bust, then later they look skinny.

Oh well. I'm dumb!
