So I have a pregnant Dalmation Molly who looks ready to pop any day and I have no idea what to do. She's in the 50 gallon with a bunch of fish who would love a bit size snack so it is near impossible to save them due to the tank size and unable to take out the fish really. But I thought about taking her out for a few days and put her in my 10 gallon with my Sunburst Platies until she gives birth. Would that stress her out? Would it be ok?

platies will eat them maybe make a breeder box ar buy one sure someone will yell you

I've made a couple of breeder boxes from sandwich boxes you can pick up from your supermarket.

Depending obv on the size of your tank depends on the box you make

Here's my link how I done one of mine

Oh right, I forgot to say that. I have a breeder net already in the 10 gallon for my platy fry so when they are born it's there and easier to catch.

I just check every morning for fry when I first turn the lights on. I lightly fan water over the rocks and by ornaments and the home wafting out and I scoop them with a net. I've never had a fish birth in a breeder. When I tried I just never knew exactly when she would birth and I catch plenty anyways so I just don't bother them much.

I have a 50 gal btw

How big are Molly fry? I know Platy fry are SUPER tiny and hard to find in just the 10 Gallon alone.

I would say double the size of platy fry I've just come down and checked my tank and found 2 Molly fry.

One was at the top corner of the tank and another has hidden its self away in my rocks.

If you've got plants they'll hide between leaves and obv as said above between rocks and any gap they can fit In.

I've only done it once as I spotted my females tube by in tube out and wanted to see if my DIY trap worked and it did but normally I never get that chance they always give birth when I'm in bed or out the house

I am just concerned... I have crabs, Pictus, gourami, and assorted fish who can easily find and devour the fry. I know I can't save them all but I want to save some at least...

I do have quite a few plants in there.

I've got 2 big gourami's and 3 large mollies as well as several adult mollies and my fry seem to be ok but they are used to having fry in the tank
