in the intake tube. My tube has the strainer on it but their little faces get sucked up into the little slots and their whole face, mouth, eyes, antennae, everything...gets sucked up into the intake tube and just waves in the current.....they obviously can't pull themselves out. So they have to sit there until I turn the filter down or off. Sometimes that's all day before I get home and see it.

I want to put a prefilter on there but was wondering was there a good type that works with AC110 specifically or just a "general" prefilter sponge? I don't want to reduce the flow to this filter but if I have to compromise that's what I have to do.

Well I figured out what to do. I'm gonna get some black fiberglass screen door wire like they sell in the local hardware stores and rubberband that around it! :)

A piece of filter sponge with a hole poked in it & slid over the intake works better. Screen tends to plug quickly, the sponge diffuses the flow better & gives you a little more bio filtration. It doesn't affect the flow much at all.

I had the same problem arise today... I came home and my snail was stuck in the powerhead inlet, i pulled him out and unfortunately he hasnt moved yet, so im gonna call it a loss, i guess there are many things that you have to learn... Whoodathunkit...

Yea....I didn't realize how funny that looked until you said that.....yea that's pretty funny.

tnhowery - sorry to hear about that.....if this is a mystery snail like the ones that I have.....just give him a little time....they will get reclusive inside their shells if traumatized by something.

hes right, I have been doing it that way since I have had my 110s. I did it a couple years ago to save on wear and tear of mine, as I have some fish whose favorite game is to make the filters make funny noises by spitting sand into them, it keeps most of the sand out of them.
